Ryanair Seating Policy seems to have changed.
Discussion
Wonder how long it'll be before some enterprising soul comes up with an app/website that enables everyone who's booked a flight to register their seat numbers and collectively shuffle positions so everyone ends up sitting where they want to without having to pay the airline extra to choose their seat?

I dunno that woukd work but i can see a timewasting clusterf
I'm having an issue with Ryanair at the moment, booked and paid for extra legroom seats but can't get a confirmation email from them, I used their live chat thingy on the website to speak to a lobotomised lackey who has trouble breathing without being told how to do it, but still can't get confirmation of the seating or an invoice. The number that the lackey gives out (same as website) does not work 0331007383 and appears to be missing a digit!
Can anyone provide a phone number that allows me to speak to a human being in customer services?

Ryanair pissboilers,
Will I f
k pay their asking 6.00 for a seat.
Bring back the unallocated flights from a few years ago.
I hate to admit, but we fly with them every month, and next flight is in 1 week.
I normally book us as soon as the 4 day, free allocation opens.
Might just wait an extra day or two, before I check in.
No point booking as soon as the 4 day window for free allocation, as will just get seats, 25 rows apart.
Piss takers.

Probably loosing customers for just the "Feck you over stance, pay us 6.00 gbp !"
If they are, they'll lose market share and will change their policy. This is how it should be...the best action a customer can take is to vote with their feet. If they don't, they should quit moaning.//j17 said:
You're on the budget airline of budget airlines, exactly why are you suprised by this?
If you go for the cheapest fare you don't get, and more to the point shouldn't expect, anything for free and should expect to pay for everything this isn't legally escential for the airline to provide.
This. In spades. If you go for the cheapest fare you don't get, and more to the point shouldn't expect, anything for free and should expect to pay for everything this isn't legally escential for the airline to provide.
I've flown with them a few times over the last couple of years and will be again later this year. The places they go to/from and the timings of flights work very well for us. And the flights themselves have been fine to date - think of it as a bus trip for a couple of hours and you're fine.
Also, as noted above, expect to need to add extras to the price. And before clicking "submit", have a quick check of other airlines if they do flights that work for you. We nearly always end up paying a reasonable chunk more to get front bulkhead seats sat together, checked luggage etc. With a 5yr old and a 2yr old it makes sense to. And the total cost is still cheaper than other airlines.
I wouldn't say they're the friendliest airline in the world, and far from the best. But that's not what I'm paying for (even with extras).

You are moaning as if they are scum of the earth, but you fly with them every month? So you're actually loyal to them?
Why don't you vote with your feet (wallet)?
Had it on a flight last week, wife and I put in different rows on different sides of the plane. Both aisle seats, so maybe they've already changed the allocation to middle seats. Made the loading of an already late plane even longer with cabin staff having to deal with loads of queries and people trying to pass stuff to other members of there party who were seated elsewhere. Then the musical chairs began as people realised there were empty seats closer to those they had boarded with.

Have flown with them every month for the last 12 months almost.
Hurray July is our last booked flight with the f

Every other flight, except the last one to Barcelona, we got seats together.
Well I have voted with my feet.

Flew with them to france on sunday last - rows 15 and 30! Backfired though, the mrs had exit row and a spare seat so straight in there once we were airbourne, lassie next to me on row 30 had her lad in row 5 so i imagine he was relocated. Only then all the luggage was in the wrong place for landing so everybody was trying to get it back after landing delaying things.
A lot of people are struggling with the simple concept of being annoyed at the principle of spiting the fare paying customer for not upgrading to something deliverable for free.
Last night we went to our favourite curry house, which tends to happen most weeks, got a typical bill of about £50 and would have happily left a typical tip of £6 or 7. If theyd told us we cant sit together, even though it makes no difference to them, unless we pay £3 surcharge we'd have told them to jog on and walked out, even though we could have paid it, eaten, and simply not paid/reduced the typical tip and been "in-pocket."
The lassie sat beside me on before i moved was the same - we both didnt give a fig if ryanairs prices were all £10 more, we were there cos they were flying the route we wanted at the most convenient time and flying is a fairly small part of a holiday cost - but the nasty petty spiting for not buying the upgrade will bite ryanair I think, just puts a bad taste in the mouth.

king toilet too - dont they bother to even visually check the wc on turnarounds now?

This is a poor analogy; there is already an established culture of paying for seats on flights, particularly with budget air lines. Nothing like a restaurant. Out of interest, how much cheaper were they for your flight than the competition? I flew with them to Dublin last week and it was a pretty typical budget airline flight each way - with an unexpected bonus of departing from gate 18 at Gatwick. Me and my mate were sat a ways apart and given I sleep on flights it makes absolutely no difference to me.
They were around £50 cheaper than the competition, I look at that saving and figure it will more than likely pay for my flight to Budapest later in the year so it is worth a punt to me - particularly on a flight that lasts an hour. We landed on time each end.

Its not a poor anology, yes you can pay for the option to select a seat, but all other budget airlines dont try to spite those who dont in the "hope" they'll pay to upgrade.Out of interest, how much cheaper were they for your flight than the competition? What we might have saved or not is irrelevent, we picked the flights with the closest to ideal flight times so choice is a moot point, its not like there are 3 different airline's flying london to marsielle every hour. If they'd been 50% more we'd probably have picked the same flights anyway, as i said they werent expensive to begin with.

Absolutely this. I'm delighted to NOT sit next to family or colleagues on any flight. Someone else can suffer their incessant chatter for the flight duration.I know plenty of people who would pay good money NOT to sit with their family on a flight.

It is a poor analogy because the industries are completely different, and like I say there is already an established model of paying extra for particular seating requirements on budget airlines - If you want to guarantee particular seats you pay for it on all the budget airlines, all Ryan Air have done is push their model to make the default choice less desirable. Completely different from a Restaurant deciding to do the same, a better analogy would be if restaurants started to charge extra for certain tables - I'm sure many palms have been crossed with silver to secure a particularly desirable table. What we might have saved or not is irrelevent, we picked the flights with the closest to ideal flight times so choice is a moot point, its not like there are 3 different airline's flying london to marsielle every hour. I think what you might have saved is relevant as you can't on the one hand b

I don't agree with them lying about it though.
Every time I've used a budget carrier it's been to fill in some minor leg of a trip where everywhere else I've had a 23-30kg luggage allowance and suddenly been confronted with a pitiful 15kg allowance....and then been charged an extortionate amount for it. Happened to me a couple of times. One trip my "budget carrier" cost me nearly double what the "full service carrier" cost me in the other direction. They are scam merchants.
