Two different 'heights' of Front rotors seem to have been used. It's worth confirming yours before buying.
The height of the disc is easily measured if you have removed the disc from the car by laying it flat on the floor and measure its 'height'
Be careful with rotors where the the holes are drilled all the way through rather than 'dimples' as these have been known to crack.

300mm brake upgrade by N7GTX (Iain)
N7GTX has written an excellent article documenting (and including photos) his Chimaera 300mm brake upgrade which is on 15inch wheels in this thread clicky
Here is his 'kit list' (all prices as of Aug2015)
Reconditioned calipers from Euro Car Parts. Their part numbers are 133590311 (Left) and 133590324 (Right)
Enter those part numbers into the search box on the home page:
EuroCarParts
They cost £62 each plus vat and a surcharge of £25 per caliper so if you do not have old ones to return you will pay this. Then the total price would be £208.
Carriers from a Ford Mondeo Mk3 which are all the same size.
From a scrapyard, or they do come up often on ebay. The Bosch part number is 0204Y01125. They are not handed so just order 2 of them.
Rotors from a Ford Focus ST170 and are 300mm. You cannot use the Mondeo discs as they are 5 stud.
Euro Car Parts number is 104590548 and cost £25.21 each inc vat.
They are vented, 24mm wide, 4 stud and the center hole is the same size as the hub.
Brake pads are Pagid, for a Ford Mondeo Mk3, from Euro Car Parts, part number 101590298 costing £26.58 inc vat.
Due to a difference in offset between the discs it is necessary to buy 4 longer mounting bolts and then fit a spacer on each one.
M12mm x 45mm socket head high tensile screws, grade 12.9
Spacers made from old suspension bushes found in the scrapyard that were 12 mm diameter and then cut them to size as they are thick walled and strong

Headlight adjustment ring. The black plastic ring that's the connection between pod and headlight, with 3 adjusters and 3 spring clips to hold the lamp in place. Also has morette pressed into the plastic.
The adjustment trim ring is now an obsolete part[MO 128].
If anyone requires one in the future David Gerald has a remanufactured part.
High Beam Lamps
Havant Motor Factors in Hampshire called Cibie UK and Valeo and determined the old Valeo part number (082348) had been discontinued, but had been superseded by Valeo part number 082378. They were £55 each inc. VAT. (April 2015)
Bulb is type: H1 Osram Nightbreakers give a noticeable improvement
The originals are Cibie SC 0488047's.
They have a different glass style, but have the same flat glass face 5 and 3/4 inch (146mm) diameter as the originals. They have Cibie printed into the glass and have the same three locating lugs around the lamp edge that allows them to fit perfectly into the black plastic mounting bracket.

Fuse box and Relays
Fuse Box
Some explanation on the fuse box;
Clicky
Door Courtesy/Interior Light Delay Relay
The relay is a Ford part. Its quite tall and yellow so easy to recognise, and is usually in the top right corner of the fuse board.
Part number was 85GG 13C718 though apparently this was replaced later by 92GG 13C718.
Its thought the 85GG variant just turns off after the set period and that the 92GG variant dims slowly in theatre style, though this hasn't been confirmed yet.
Fuel Pump Relay

rad-fans
According to TVR parts specialist Racetech Direct the fan size for our cars is 305mm (12"), they say the original Spal part number is VA10-AP70/LL-47A and that does seem to check out with a bit of separate Googling work, they charge a whopping £152.32 plus VAT & postage so buying just one fan from Racetech Direct is going to get very close to £200!!!!
On the other hand you could buy a VA01-AP70/LL-36A which is a Spal 12" curved blade pulling fan for a much more reasonable £138.37 from JJC Race & Rally on EBay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spal-Universal-12V-Sucti...
Or better still I discovered you could buy the very same thing from Pro Ally for just £94.20:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322217176227
The difference between the original part number VA10-AP70/LL-47A and VA01-AP70/LL-36A is just the last figure which seems to denote the amperage draw, 47 amps vs 36 amps for the newer version, this would make sense as the newer version is using the latest brushless motor technology. (Ian, the 47A & 36A refer to the blade profile and the AP70 is the motor which is the largest for the 12" fan)
Both fans are the same size and both used curved blade technology so I'm in no doubt the newer version will pull the same amount of air as the original if not more as the lower inertia brushless motor may very well permit a higher peak rotational speed and will certaily get to peak speed faster. The newer brushless fan will also spike on start up 10 amps or so less due again to the reduced motor weight (inertia) and Spal's integrated "Soft Start" circuitry.
Here's an airflow chart from Spal that demonstrates the VA01-AP70/LL-36A is their top performing fan in the 305mm size, unless you want to up the maximum amp spike considerably from a safe 36A to 66A which is something I wouldn't recommend without significantly uprating the original TVR wiring.
Bushless motors are smaller (thinner) so fitting it will be easier and ultimately would allow for a deeper rad core if that's something being considered, bushless motors also last longer and draw less amps so the newer VA01-AP70/LL-36A has some really nice advantages over the original VA10-AP70/LL-47A used by TVR in the 90's which itself was a quality fan choice that seem to last a good 20 years, it's just electric motor technology has moved on.
Choosing the new brushless motor VA01-AP70/LL-36A will therefore be an upgrade from the original and if you buy it from Pro Alloy rather than Racetech Direct it'll be half the price too wink
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322217176227
Please note this is all just research at this point but it all cross checks (including interrogating Spal's own website) so I'm very confident its correct, do however make your own checks before committing so you can satisfy yourself you are definitely purchasing the right fan for your car.

Magneti Marelli 26801K 12v Type M78R (1.4)
These guys were recommended on the forum for their 3kw version
www.londonessexautoelectrics.co.uk
Stepper Motor (idle control valve)
Stepper Motor Plenum Chamber Range Rover Classic and Discovery 1 Efi. to 1994
Original was Land Rover part ERR5199
Part No ETC6660 replaces ERR5199 so you should search for either which have the description
KevD said in This thread he bought one in 2014 from British parts.co.uk which was £35.19 + vat & delivery, and it has worked faultlessly so far.

Stepper Motor connector
They are JPT (Junior Power Timer) connectors and come in varying pin configurations.
They are used extensively in engine looms and are still commonly available from a variety of outlets, just Google JPT Connectors.
Durite part: 0-012-72
They look like this Clicky
Sump plug
Same thread as swirl pot cap - 1/2" B.S.P thread - a good upgrade is a David Brown tractor sump plug (hex key fitting)
Throttle Cable
They are supposed to be unique to the TVR but you can make do with one from a Peugeot or Citroes XUD diesel engined car - Peugeot 305/205/405/309 or Citroen BX/ZX/Xantia. The kits have enough bits to make a roadside repair in an emergency.
Or another emergency measure is to use a 1.5mm push bike brake cable. Using an electrical 'chocolate box' wiring connector for the nipple on the end.
Throttle Return Spring
Body of the spring 4cm, tip to tip 6.8 cm.
Water Pump
Pre-Cat 4x
Part Manufacturer: try Rimmer Bros TR8
Part number GWP204 .
Serp engines
STC4378
Interestingly the prices vary massively for these.
A search for STC4378 will find LR items, often above £200
A Search for STC4378 AIRTEX will find pumps for a quarter of that.
It was discussed in this thread linky
Water Pump Pulley - to fit pre serp
Part number ERC 3166 Now obsolete
SIZE 5.2" DIA and 1" DEPTH
-NOTE after many hours of searching best option was either breakers yard or a nice alloy one from here http://www.thewedgeshopstore.com/aluminum-water-pu...
its from the USA but shipping is not to bad as it is light
Fixtures and Fittings
Interior
Boot gas strut
The strut from a P38 Range Rover upper boot section goes straight on.
Also this tailgate strut MXC7833P from Rimmer Bros
Door Jamb Reflectors
Jaguar XJ6
Mirror - rear view
Peugeot 206
Seatbelts
Securon 500/30 Black are a potential replacement but are not a direct match as the stalk stands aprox 10cm higher when fitted.
Other Securon buckles with shorter stalks from are also available but not with the required inertia real assembly so 2 belts maybe be required to get the correct fitment. All Securon belts are commonly available on Ebay so there is no need to pay a specialist for them.
Sun visors
Ford Capri, Ford Escort Mk1 & Mk2
With some subtle differences;
Ford item covering has a fine dimple pattern where TVR item is grained. TVR vanity mirror is slightly bigger. TVR fitted the visor to the head rail from the top with screw head bolts rather than from the bottom like Ford with self tappers, therefore TVR pushed in 5mm nut into the mounting hinge pins.
You may need to spray with satin black vinyl spray as Ford items are normally 2 tone colour black/cream, black/grey.
Gearbox/Handbrake rubber gaitor
The same item is used for both the handbrake and gear lever.
Ford Sierra Mk1 for gearbox ‘Type 9’, Ford part number 6112048 - discontinued now but you might be lucky and find NOS
Here is a useful thread on replacing them Clicky
Exterior
Wipers
Wiper blades, Lucas WEB160
Number Plates
Rear
The rear number plates need to be of the special construction which allows them to
be backlit.
You can special order them at FancyPlates - tell them you need a TVR backlit plate Clicky
The transparent plate option is also available as a selection in the dropdown menus of the online constructor. Clicky
Fluids and Lubricants
Most fluids and lubricants have improved since the cars were originally built and the OE spec versions are either no longer available or there are better out there. Here are some recommendations for suitable alternatives.Antifreeze
Type | Quanitity | recommended by |
VAG G12++ | (barreti) |
I've also found this information when researching lifespans of Antifreeze
2-3 years for glycol coolant.
4-5 years for OAT coolant. (G12 plus plus is OAT)
Most manufacturers also specify mileages at which they should be replaced if reached before the time period, as it'll only survive so many heat cycles.
The anti-freeze properties remain unaffected, but the anti-boil and anti-corrosion properties of the coolant go for a burton.

Blue expansion cap
VW Golf mk1/mk2 Blue expansion cap part C389 / 443 121 321
Swirl pot cap
1/2" BSP (same as sump plug) - a good upgrade is a David Brown tractor sump plug (hex key fitting easier to undo than the slotted brass original)
Gearbox oil
LT77
The LT77 gearbox takes approx 2.5-2.7 litres of oil
Difflock Evolution 1 Fully Synthetic Gear Oil has been recommended, though its expensive so brace yourself before searching for it.
ATF Dextron 2 or 3 is recommended by Ashcroft Transmissions
Diff oil
BTR Diff
Morris Lodexol XFS 80W-140 is a fully synthetic gear oil
See this thread clicky
GKN Diff
According to the manual Mobilube SAE 85W90 - 2 litres
Various oils have been recommended though - see this thread clicky
Castrol SAF-XJ 75w-140 fully synthetic final drive lubricant
or
Amsoil Synthetic SEVERE Gear Oil 75w-140 (SVO)
or
Hypoid (HD) 75/90

Later cars
The full rebuild of the heating system is documented in this thread Clicky
Steering
Steering Column
Vauxhall Astra GTE/Cavalier GSi or possibly other spec but be careful to get one which is adjustable as the 'L' version isn't
Track Rod Ends
Delphi part TA687
Borg and Beck BTR4040
First Line FTR4040
Manual Rack
Inner steering arms from a 1992 pre cat manual rack are from a mk5 escort with trw power steering.
Fitting An Electric Rack
At the time of writing there is a thread running where CARSY is documenting his install. I've posted a link to this in the "How To" section.
Steering Wheel conversion to Momo
If you want to fit a different Momo steering wheel and it doesn't match the screw fittings you need a 'boss' for a Vauxhall steering column
Momo MC6605 Steering Boss Kit is the correct fit and they can be found on the internet or ebay
Wheels
OZ split rims
Bolts
M7 x 24mm flanged torx head and 30 on each wheel
The original OZ bolts are 12.9 rating, clearly marked on the bolt head flange.
Hansdaal on here supplies titanium bolts. hamada@planet.nl
Tyres
I found this idea in another Wiki, and since we get so many tyre questions/comments I thought it would be useful to compile a list of our own.
I'll keep this at the bottom of the Wiki because it may end up being quite a long list.
Reviews should be listed under Tyre Manufacturer, Tyre Model, Size, Wheel type (eg. Estoril/Gotti)||your comments||your PH name||
You don't have to but might want to add your PH name if you are happy for people to contact you about your choice.
Manufacturer | Model | Front/Rear | Size | Wheel (eg. Estoril/Gotti) | your comments | your PH name |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Goodyear | Eagle F1 | Front | 225/50ZR16 | Estorils | Had these on the rear of the car before I swapped the whole set, and I still have these as spares because I really like them. Grippy, predictable, stable in the wet. | Barreti |
Toyo | Proxes | Front | 205/55/R15(TBC) | Amil Gotti | Swapped as a full set and found them very well balanced with no tramlining | Barreti |
Toyo | Proxes | Rear | 225/55/R16 | Amil Gotti | as above | Barreti |
