The back of the 288 GTO is probably the best of any car, certainly any Ferrari. It's art.

I agree, used to spend ages when I was a kid looking at the back of my Burago model! Shame about the add on foglight though. Think that Lusso is going to be featured in either Classic & Sportscar or Ocatne soon, can't remember which, hence the pro photos.

I enquired after that car, the ex-Adrian Newey car, but it has been crashed and rebuilt in 1986 so I passed. There might not be anything wrong with it (not saying it is, not saying it isn't) but it's still something you have to explain when selling on. The car's asking price is well below the 288GTO market, and I think there's a reason for that.

On the Lusso I would say it's worth around the same as the asking price on the GTO, probably 50k more, but I would not be surprised if they are asking about 150k more. What the actual worth is, is difficult to say without viewing the car in person. 90 out of a 100 classic Ferraris are not as good as they claim to be, but 100 of 100 owners think they are.... Also, with the current strong market, people owning cars like this start getting crazy ideas in their heads. A Lusso is for sale at 650k euro in Holland and $800k in the US, to give you an idea of where people think the market is.

Is that not an old website? I thought the 288 got sold?

Amazing how much these have jumped in price over the last few years. I tried to buy a 288 a couple of years ago but missed it by a day..... I never understood why a 288 was 350k when an enzo was 650k.

that ticks all of the required boxes, I will probably never be in a position to contemplate purchasing one but the dream is still lovely smile

245k in 2006. Amazing. Still my fav modern Ferrari.

The lusso is amazing, there was a well used daily driver in cornwall in the late 90's but they were 60-65k then and looked at a 250 GT SWB for 350k around the same time.

Oh well.

Probably not too far away, looking at Paul Baber's website......

I know the steering wheel is on the other side, but must be fairly close on price. Please don't let this become another LHD/RHD discussion! winkbiggrin

The 330GTC on Paul Barber's site seemed quite cheap in comparison, considering there's one for sale at Fosker's for 275k. And in RHD is a factor, for the GTC only 22 were made in RHD, and for Lusso's only 20.

The 250 Lusso GT market is an odd one as the prices asked seem to vary quiet wildly compared to other classic Ferrari's. Talacrest currently have Chris Evans white example up for sale at £560k which includes a recent body and mechanical restoration costing £138k. At that price I think that sounds like a good deal. Factor in a respray, as the white really does not suit it, at say £15k and I think you would end up with a glorious car. A nice blue to play off the interior would be my choice

Over the last few months I have seen cars with varying degrees of restoration on the market between £400k and £800k, this car being the most expensive at £795K with Paul Baber. With it being one of the 23 RHD examples I think added to the price. But I have to say it was a truly wonderful restoration, a couple of the details were not correct but did not take anything away from the car. It has now been sold I think:

If I had had the money I would have snapped it up, even though I thought it was overpriced, it was that good

The Lusso seems to be following a similar curve to the 275 GTB, three years ago you could have picked up a Lusso for half the price they are charging now, same with the GTB which are now knocking on the million mark for a good 275GTB/4

I think Steve McQueen's example being sold helped a lot, it was a little bit below radar as not being quite as sporting as other 250 derivatives?

I have never seen a respray of 15k that was even halfway decent. 30k is more appropriate for a proper bare metal job, at least if you truly want the best. Just my personal experience, perhaps the UK is different. In my opinion you would have to redo the interior as well as that pale blue is really horrible. At least, I haven't seen the Lusso, I assume it matched the Evans 250SWB I saw at auction in Monaco.

I don't quite agree. A Lusso (4627GT, very nice example) had an asking price of $1.2 million in 2008. Despite the McQueen deal, this car never found a buyer and was for sale for over 2 years, price steadily dropping to around $800k. Since 2010, I have seen quite a rise in prices. Three years ago, Lusso prices were very strong (globally, not sure about the UK), and they have been a bit in the dumps but have picked up nicely recently.
