McLaren special editions for Shanghai show
570S Commemorative Edition marks three years in China with... a three-car production run
Mechanically identical to the 570GT (no need to be jealous Dan), the Commemorative Edition comes in the Pacific Blue colour the GT was launched in. There are one or two distinguishing points though, which you may have noticed... Carbon is used for the rear bumper, the rear spoiler, the front splitter and the side skirts. See also the forged wheels and an exhaust in 'Stealth finish'.
All three Commemorative Editions are identical, meaning they all receive a black and cream 'by McLaren' leather interior. A launch date and a price haven't yet been announced, though it's hard to imagine there being much difficulty in shifting them.
Now since its reveal at the Geneva show, debate has raged on the McLaren 720S's styling. For China McLaren is showing its second generation Super Series in a spec not yet seen and, dare it be said, the car looks really good. The exterior is 'Saros' black, paired with a Jet Black/Xenon Yellow interior and exposed carbon fibre inside and out. Orders for all 720S models in China open with the show, and first customer cars are due in July.
"McLaren has enjoyed three years of success in China and... we look forward to further growth in this market" said McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt. With 2016 sales up nearly 100 per cent over 2015, China is probably key to those numbers climbing up. Bring on the 720S Spider!
