Just so you are aware of what Traffic Police get up to. :D
Lifted from Force weekly Orders commendations section!

2. Judge commendations

Four officers have been commended by a judge sitting at Aylesbury Crown Court for the way they responded to a burglary.

DC Giles MXXXX, from XXXXXXXX CID Operations, PC Greg WXXXXXXX from the Dogs Section along with PC Robert SXXXXX and PC Simon BXXXXXXXX from Milton Keynes Roads Policing Unit were all commended by Mr Recorder Brown following the trial of a burglar.

He said: "In cases like this, we see too often in the newspapers the fact that the police are always being criticised for the fact that they do not respond, and do not catch burglars.

"Well, here is an instance where they caught the burglars actually before the householder knew of that fact. I say this comment and I am sure many other members of the public will echo this, and I hope it gets back to the police headquarters: it is refreshing to see that the traffic police officers are not policing traffic all the time. They are actually dealing with real crime, and they can deal with - as proved in this case.

"I would therefore like to commend the officers in this case to the Chief Constable for their actions and to draw that to his attention."

Well bless my soul! How about that then? Cops catching criminals....anybody would think thats what theyre paid for or something............
I see it wasnt a "life saving safety (bullshit)" camera that did the apprehending then? Didnt think so....

Good work guys, more, much more of that and a whole lot less of the other.

How fortunate the Police Officers were not wasting their time pointing a laser up the road and were, as you have so eloquently said, "catching criminals".

Where has there been a quote saying that cameras would perform as you say by catching this sort of criminal. They are not meant to are they? Have I been misled?

A perfect exaample of horses for courses, Police making arrests and cameras catching exactly who thay have been designed to catch.

Talking of catching, you seem to be catching on!

Agreed - they catch safe drivers travelling a few mph above an arbitrary limit that, more than likely, would have been legal not long before

So you do fully admit that the cameras are about revenue only? If they are catching exactly who they are targeted to catch, and yet the death rate has not fallen, it can surely only be about money?

Well done to the coppers doing a proper job (unlike the fairies in la la land who think speed cameras are actualy helping).

Whilst it is refreshing to see a report of this nature, is it not a sign of the times that a judge should feel the need to commend officers for providing the service for which Joe Public pays?

Of course, bad policing and bad police officers get more publicity than normal (or even good) policing and police officers - the 'Mods and Rockers' Syndrome.

Good evening Mr Callahoon!

Just one little thing, if you could clear it up for me:

"we dont want to catch you, we only want to slow you down"........funny that.
I thought that speed cameras are for "saving lives"....but you seem to believe theyre for, and i quote: " cameras catching exactly who thay have been designed to catch. " Designed to catch! He says! Not "designed to save lives". And we ALL know what happens when you unelected, unwanted, unloved, uneeded, friendless muppets "catch" someone: You catch a nice £60 theft bonus! DONT YOU???

Care to explain the very big Callaghan clanger youve yet again dropped?
Moving swiftly on.......

Ive a question for you Mr cameraship scavenger:

How does recieving a £60 fine 2 weeks after the event contribute to road safety of at the time and location the photo was taken?

Get on with that one Mr Lifesavers......lets see how fast YOU "catch" on.

Regards, That Naughty Mr DF.

Ist more than likely they were on patrol nearby when the radio sounded - und responded for a change.

was this in run up to election? We seemed to see more police cars in that four weeks than ever before..

Und I was talking to a woman polcie officer in the pub earlier this evening. She ist on her holidays here from another patch. She was telling me she actually saw four blokes break into a neighbour's house und she dialled the police to assist (she was off -duty). She said she now appreciated why we complained about response as the police did not turn up for two hours - und she ist police und the house was across the road from her house.

By the way - she said she was surprised at the number of talivans she saw here und she ist hoping she was not copped as she has no ides of speed limit of the road her speed when she saw it either

Ist OK - Steviebabes - did your job for you und told her about COAST und where you like to hide. (She ist a sometime desk jockey und CSO minder. - so she described her job to me. )

It takes months to get a case before a Judge in a Crown Court. Sometimes over a year!
It would have been before the election. What on earth has that got to do with it?

Next time I will post the discipline section from weekly orders so you can gloat over those who fail to meet the required standards!

So cameras have been designed to catch the safer driver have they?

I assume you have seen the RAC's and insurance company studies which show it's the safer driver being caught, i.e. those with no accidents, who driver new(ish) or very well-maintained cars. The ones not being caught to anything remotely the same extent are the under 25s and the elderly, the two groups responsive for the majority of accidents.

Therefore, cameras are not working.

Will you catch on eventually?
