VW Tiguan BiTDI 240 4Motion - Air intake
Discussion
I m looking for some help with my 2017 VW Tiguan.
I m trying to find an aftermarket cold air intake to replace the OEM air box and paper filter.
The issues I m having is that no one seem to have anything for this vehicle.
Has anyone found a compatible intake or know of where I can find one?
My engine bay doesn t appear to be laid out like a normal non 240 Tiguan, instead, the battery is located in the trunk not under the bonnet.
Any help is appreciated ??

The reason no one makes one is that it doesn t make a blind bit of difference. There are highly tuned diesels that still use the standard intake.
Exactly. I’d guess that most cold air intakes are manufactured only because they know people will buy them, simple as that. And the oem paper filter is, almost every time, the best for your engine’s health.

The only option that is currently available is a replacement performance panel filter to keep the OEM air box and replace the paper filter with a high flow reusable/washable filter.
If the manufacturer provides the results of independent laboratory tests on the ‘performance’ filter that show a real gain in airflow, even when clogged with dust after the equivalent of say 5,000 miles, go for it. If they don’t, stick with the oem. I’ve seen a few tests over the years where it’s obvious that the oem paper filter performs best throughout its life. Unless you’re competing off-road in dusty/mucky/hot conditions, just stay with oem. If you want bragging rights in the pub car park, do what you want to do!
