I've been with AA or RAC for 20 years or so, but Green Flag are offering me a good deal. Based on my limited experience I see fewer Green Flag vans on the streets than RAC or AA.

Any thoughts on Green Flag?

This is the Finance forum. Do you want to buy shares in them?

Wrong forum but don't Greenflag make more use of local contractors/recovery companies? Hence seeing fewer vans.

Greenflag just recovered my campervan from Austria to the UK. Some faff with logistics but that was more to do with being half way up a mountain than Greenflag's fault.

Apparently Green Flag are setting up their own patrols.

20 years with them?
I do hope you’ve been haggling - see https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-in... (over 80% success rate for those who haggle!)

I think I used Green Flag many years ago, but don’t recall any major incidents call them out. If they were the best value for me, I wouldn’t hesitate to click buy.

Check https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-in... for deals.
Offspring used the MSE-deal AutoAid for a while, but we have a Nationwide account & rely on that (£18pcm, but includes holiday insurance and mobile phone cover).

From experience working for National Highways, Green Flag are generally very good, RAC/AA are appalling at weekends and at night, go with them if the price is right. Just personal opinion, I am not allowed to recommend anyone officially.

I’d bet that unless you got lucky green flag would turn up faster than aa or rac.

I have green flag cover but have only used rac who were dreadful. Their first instinct on the call I made to them was to try and tell me I wasn’t covered rather than deal with the issue. I was covered with no ambiguity.

If you really think you need cover buy two of the cheapest policies available. Call them both in an emergency and cancel the one who doesn’t come first. If it’s insurance just in case buy one cheap policy that matches your needs.

Autoaid is worth a look even though they have bumped prices and changed general value of the inclusions over the past few years.

Not needed to call them out but been with Green Flag for a few years, so much cheaper than AA and RAC and the price doesn't ramp up every year so no need for the annual haggling charade.

Yes I call AA/RAC up every year to renegotiate as they double the price every year.

Green Flag sent me an email saying they'd do it for half the price of my current provider which piqued my interest.

Shares? No! Odd question. I'm looking at their offer as they have offered to do the same service for half the price. What forum do you suggest?

Good idea but don't think I can afford two duplicate policies! I never had to call the RAC out. I called AA out twice, first time about a 2 hour wait, second about 4 hours.

Yes the annual haggling call brasses me off (it's why I'm leaving Sky this year!). If Greenflag don't do the doubling in price every year then that is an immediate win thanks.

I’d defo give them a chance: I doubt you would be let down….& not having to haggle is a real bonus!

I get Green Flag cover from my Bank account, I have not had to use them for last few years (New Car, reliable). Before that I used them a few times and on every occasion they were fantastic. They use local firms so the wait is minimal and recovery (twice) has been excellent.

I used RAC before that but we are talking 10 plus years and my experience was good but it was that long ago I don't know what they are like now. AA however we use for our fleet at work, they are hit and miss. If my bank no longer offered it as part of my account I would sign up to Green Flag no problem.

Breakdown cover? Just have a nationwide premium account and you receive travel, phone, gadget and breakdown for 2 people for under £20 a month.

Anyone towing a caravan - most breakdown policies don't cover you if it's the caravan that is at fault, for example if your caravan tyre shreds and takes out the wheel arch leaving the caravan untowable (is that a word?). If your car breaks down and you happen to be towing then they normally recover your caravan too, but it has to be your car that is at fault.

Green Flag Mayday policy (Via the Caravan & Motorhome Club) covers the caravan too, and will take you and your caravan to the campsite so you can still have your holiday, and your car to a garage. If the car still hasn't been fixed by the end of your holiday they take you and your caravan home for you. I think the Camping and Caravanning Club offer similar.
