I have a 2000 4.5 Cerb LW (4000 miles)and the engine has just lost all power, like try to pull away with the handbrake on and the engine flooded. Service guys tell me that the engine will probably have to go back to TVR for a rebuild. They havn't got to the bottom the problem yet, but when they tell me the bottom of one of the sparkplugs was flattened it does not sound good.
Anyone know of any problem with the 4.5 engine? I have heard horror story about the straight six but not the 4.5

Ah, the Cerbera - nice car shame about the unreliable engines. Great when the work though !

The early 4.2 engines used to go pop, but i've not heard of many problems with the later 4.2s or the 4.5's

sounds like your just unlucky. It is a very highly tuned thinly disguised race engine though so going pop is more likley than ioon a 1.1 ford focus.

hope its not away to long... although the line of ssixes in front of you may slow things down...

I had a similar sounding thing happen to me.

Driving east on the M4 when all power disappeared.

The events went something like this.
- CD player stopped
- A/C stopped
- My lovely 4.5 Cerby L/weight then developed a wicked misfire
- Then lost all power
- Called Green Flag .........
- Got towed

Henley Heritage quickly diagnosed the loss of power as a deteriorated fuseable link, which looks like a washer covered in tin foil and costs about 5p !!
