I've just cleaned out the Jacuzzi, washed it all down and filled it up with clean water. Went to go turn it on and it tripped all the power sockets in the house.
On inspection of the fuse board all the mini circuit breakers (MBC) that are to the right of the 2nd large switch (which i assume would be the 2nd circuit ring) are off.
So i turn on the main ring and one by one turn on all the other MCBs, until i get to the one for the Jacuzzi on switching this on, all of them go off.

So it seems that there is a problem with the Jacuzzi, but i don't know what. Would it be worth opening it up and having a look inside, given that i know nothing about them. Or is this a job for a sparky or the Jacuzzi engineer?

Has anyone else had a similar problem after turning their jacuzzi off for a long time?

Thanks

Are you saying all the individual MCBs physically trip? If I'm reading that right, there sounds like there is something badly wrong.

ETA: Can you take a photo of the dist. board and post it here?

Ok this is what it looks like. As you can see the MCB (well that's what i think it is) is off for the Hot Tub

And it's this that keeps throwing all the switches on the right to off, if i try to turn the jacuzzi on. The switches on the red circuit seem to be ok.
The wire the here goes to a big external on off switch by the jacuzzi and then a wire goes from that to the underneath of the jacuzzi.

Hope that makes sense.

I have one of these jobbies on the wall between the jacuzzi and the fuse board.

Can you isolate the pump or heater to see if one of those is causing the fault ? Or see if any wires between fusebox and hot tub have been munched by rodents or worn away?

Other than that I wouldn't mess about if I were you, semi-naked body + water + 230v electricity is not a recipe for a relaxing evening.

Just went out to look at the cable from the switch to the tub and it seems fine; it's a chunky armoured bugger, like to see a rodent chomp through that metal smile

Will take a look inside tomorrow, but really don't know what i should be looking at, any pointers?

Do you mean every breaker to the right of the label saying 'RCD Protected Circuits' is tripping - i.e. actually dropping to the 'off' position? If that is the case you have a serious problem somewhere. You need to get a competent spark in.

correct. When i try to turn on the hot tub, everything to the right of the RCD label flicks to off. So i turn them all back on apart from the hot tub and everything is fine, apart that i can't use a hot tub.

Just a guess, but I suspect you have a single RCD feeding the second block of circuit breakers, and when the RCD trips it's cutting the whole lot off. In that case it suggests you have an electrical leak, the sort of thing that can easily kill you and which the RCD is specifically designed to protect you from. I suggest you take the hint and get a qualified electrician in to find and fix it.

As this has occured following the tub being washed down then it seems likely that something has got wet?

If washing down the tub is sufficient to get water mixed with electricity then there's something seriously wrong with that installation!

yes noted. i will be calling the guys that upgraded this unit for me in the morning.
Although i can work with computers and tinker around inside, without any worries of shock. The idea of water and a many Amps and me in the middle, doesn't do it for me.
