In the build up to all the excitement of the new show next week, I got confirmation this afternoon that my Viper will appear in the 1st episode:

Question of the week!

The first programme in the 'Top Dog Car' series sees a '97 Dodge Viper GTS' go head to head with a 'Noble M12 GTO3R'. Who do you think will come out on top? What car do you think is Top Dog?

'Top Dog Cars' is showing on Men and Motors on Wednesday March 17th at 21:00.

See we were the dogs!!

Thought the touring car driver looked a bit of a pratt yes in the straight line the Vipers quick but come to a corner, oh yes and I have never driven one.

Well done Graham and thanks for flying the viper flag.

Mind you that has to be the shineyest GTS I have ever seen and they say neil's the king of the polish.

Well done Graham and Viper.
Paul, my thoughts exactly as I was watching, and couldn't agree more, the touring car driver made a pratt of himself having never driven a Viper and quoting only good for straight lines several times!! I too was amazed at how shiney it was, you should have seen the car at Spa last year, yet in front of the Top-dog cameras it looked mint, brand new out the show room! The show itself was a bit naff. Would have liked to have seen more of the cars out on the track in the comparision. Three cheers for Graham an his GTS, you represented Vipers well.

Funny when you watch the video just look at how the Viper goes through the esses at least close to the Noble not bad handling.

The Noble however is rear engine and the better weight distribution helps a lot.

Not sure I would like to loose a Noble in the wet looks like as much fun as a Viper in the wet.

All that filming at Bruntingthorpe for 20s of video footage! Would have been nice to get the 180mph down the straight.

Was it my imagination, or did the Noble sound like a V10 when it was on the track !! Well done Graham, cool on the track and pretty cool under interview stress too !!

"There ain't no substitute for cubes"

Apart from supercharging, turbocharging and the ability to rev to 11k

It basically boiled down to Phil Bennet liking the Noble (predictable), the american car guy liking the Viper (even more predicatable) and the "classic car nut" who hadn't even heard of the Noble thinking the viper was a better road car??? Can we have Pennys vote and call it evens?

Real shame not to see more of both cars in action.

Does the Viper really make 500 ftbls of torque from 1000rpm?

I think that's true.

Lots of displacement usually means lots of low down torque, and that's where these engines usually make their power in stock trim. These aren't revvy engines like a 2jz-gte or RB26DETT or the S2000 engine with little displacement which have to be revved to get power, the redlines are small and the power made early with a few exceptions of other similar engines. That's what my reading of forums has taught me.
