Think you will find they are one of the few companies that know what they are doing with the TVR rack wink

yes I've used companies closer to Bristol, but I wouldn't recommend them.

Kiley Clinton know what they are doing.

Avoid a certain place in Greenwich!

Please do not use anyone else but western powersteering services.I sent mine to two other well known companys and both times they leaked ,and what a job to keep removing and re fitting.I got a phone call from Western power steering explaining that another company had damaged the unit because they were unable to remove some of the seals..these guys don`t work on a production line .one build one man .Please use them .And local to you !Forgot to say they do alot of TVR steering racks for most of the TVR specialists..I don`t want you to go through what i went through.

Mine came back from Western leaking. I wasn't going to mention them but now you have I can relate my experiences if you'd like. It involves the words *leaking like a bd* however.

Honestly, the best rebuilds at the moment are from Kiley, they're second to none. They do a mod (well two actually) that no-one else does. One ensures a smoother action and the other eliminates the possibility of leakage from the threaded boss.

I had mine done by western last year, no problems so far, the only thing that gave me the hump was they sprayed the rack black which instantly flaked frown

That's what I was hoping for with mine after recommendations to use them, but I've found out more since then, hence why I would recommend Kiley Clinton.

Would it be rude to ask how much it costs for KC to refurb your own PS rack and how long it takes?

Not at all, but I've forgotten hehe It's about the same price as all the others including the little extras. Mine was back within the week.

By all means speak to Western and Kiley and form your own opinions, but Kiley are the only ones who could sort my rack. They don't just rebuild they can and do machine as well if necessary.

What none of the other companies mentioned was replacing the flexible lines as they retain microscopic detritus and fitting a filter to the return line when you put it all back. I used a Magnefine magnetic ATQ filter and it does the job a treat.

One of the guys there served his apprenticeship with Burman, but I can't remember which one.

I liked the idea of the additional O ring to overcome the inherent TVR design problem, ie. the threaded boss relies on thread sealant only to seal against full pressure! plus the secret mod that I'm not supposed to mention biggrin

I don't know any of the cos. mentioned, but I would strongly recommend that you satisfy yourself that whoever you choose knows what they are doing.

I spotted a very slight leak in mine and I decided to have it reconditioned, even though it didn't really warrant it. I just wanted it 'right'. Unfortunately, the rack ended up with a crack in it (whether that was done during removal/repair I don't know), and I ended up sending it back to the factory to be done, although that's not an option now.

Many thanks for all the tips...

I called Kiley Clinton and they are the only ones who mentioned the mod, the guy appeared to know what he was talking about and not a bad price either £200 + vat. Cheaper than the local firms (Western etc) So I am sending it there.

Incidentally, I was told that it is loosely based on a Rover SD1 rack, is this true as I cannot believe TVR would have invested in their own design based on the relatively low production numbers? driving

Yup, it's based on the Burman design.

Good idea about the filter on the return.

With the amount of these racks they are/will be doing it is a shame they don't have some old core to refurb as exchange units.
