While most people loved the
idea of Michael Schumacher driving a cab
on its door handles to get to the airport it seems the German police have had a sense of humour failure.
Reports coming in suggest the seven-times world champion may have more to worry about than losing the Race of Champions.
According to German newspaper Bild police from the Coburg traffic authority are now looking at Schuey’s exploits and will be interviewing the cab driver Tuncer Yilmaz to find out what the German racing superstar was doing behind the wheel in the first place.
Schuey told reporters at the Race of Champions: ‘You just have to laugh about it.’ But he may not be laughing now.
Coburg policeman Kai Holland told the Bild: ‘That was an offence against transport laws. ‘
'We will have a hearing with the taxi driver to resolve the matter.’
The taxi driver meanwhile might not have time for any so-called hearings as he is now considering selling the now famous Opel mini-van piloted by Schumacher for a healthy profit.
He said he has had plenty of interest since the Schuey drive.
‘More than ten people are interested in buying it,' he was quoted as saying.
‘One has offered 63,000 euros, and I need the money - because of the Schumi-Ride I could be in big trouble with the police.’
