Christmas is here! But if you're feeling a little low on family festive cheer, PH can provide some motoring solace. Not only is there everything here from the past seven days on PistonHeads, you can also expect a decent quota of features to keep you entertained through the inevitable deluge of cheesy films and unwelcome relatives. Call it a small present from us to you as loyal PHers; Merry Christmas!
Have you watched Schumacher drive it yet?
A busy week for Mercedes-Benz on PH this week. On Monday the fourth-generation
C-Class
was unveiled, equipped with a whole host of tech, new engines and lighter construction to take on Audi and BMW.
In Merc's ever-expanding AMG range, the SLK55 can go largely unnoticed. But a cabriolet with a 420hp V8 will always grab the attention of PH, so it has been the subject of some discussion this week with an F-Type comparison coming soon. Furthermore, with the Aston-AMG agreement now finalised, could its 5.5-litre V8 make it to Astons in the near future?
For a slightly more retro Mercedes feel, see our 190E 2.3-16 POTW and the 450 SEL 6.9 YKYWT. Finally for something very different but still Mercedes related, why not tell Dan he's wrong on the Smart Roadster?
But before PH is accused of any Merc favouritism, there's been plenty of content from elsewhere in the motoring world. We've taken a spin in the Porsche Macan (from the passenger seat), detailed the new Lamborghini Huracan, seen a little more of the Lexus RC F and the Mini JCW Concept as well.
Anyone got a spare few million?
Though not confirmed yet, the rumours that Ferrari may be
returning to Le Mans
is hugely exciting. In fact, it has been an unusually busy few days for prototype racers since Monday, with
Allan McNish retiring
from the sport and the news that one resourceful PHer is making
his own 917
. Moreover, though ostensibly a road car, it's hard to think of the
Radical RXC
as anything other than a junior prototype racer, particularly on track. The
VLN is calling
... But then who wants a road car masquerading as a racer when you could just buy the real thing? See Gooding & Company's

Rallying is never far from our minds at PH, particularly with Monkey's M3 project progressing apace. So the news of Dacia returning to the Dakar was very pleasing, as was the imminent sale of an Escort RS1800 used by the McRae family. And on the rally theme, don't forget to check out Snowkhana 2 and Subaru's lovely 22B vid.
This is much better than The Great Escape
It's finally happened. Chris Harris has got his hands on a
918 Spyder
. You know what to expect, see it here if you haven't already. He's also been hankering after a
Rolls Phantom
Having driven the BBR GT270 MX-5, Dan has been considering the (turbocharged?) future of his own Eunos. Paul borrowed an Amarok from VW and returned with nothing but positives to say. Rumours of him buying checked shirts and a gun abound uncorroborated.
Finally, if the pre-Christmas hype is proving too much already, ensure you see the festive Shed special, the Toyota MR2 Carpooland our story on the future of DAB radio.
