Also - many pre 60s sports cars had packed up and gone home after lunchtime on sunday. Didn't see any lightweight e types, c types or d types. Good job there is still growing events like bicester heritage, donnington historic, chateau impney to name a few.
Sunday afternoons - been like that for a few years, since they started doing mornings out of Nat'l Paddock / afternoons out of Int'l.

Lightweight E-Types - I saw at least 3 or 4 racing.
D-Types - saw 1 in the paddock, but missed the race so couldn't tell you if any others
C-Types - saw one on the edge of the Jag club area (didn't go and look up there see if there was much else as they've nothing post XJR15 that interests me and like most clubs it's now 90% modern cars).

Other events - agreed. Bicester is great, Impney looks like it's developing well, not been to Donington - how does it compare?

I wasn't counting but I saw plenty ,relatively speaking ,of C and D types ,some on the JDC area near Copse corner

and a fair few in the racing areas for the pre 1963 Sports race.

Bonus XJ220 in that pic

It's possible that some didn't fancy driving in the pouring rain of Saturday with zero protection.

On a lighter note - who owns the red 850r Volvo? Any chance of seeing the video your passenger was recording on the parade lap?
Thanks again for the jump start Jim thumbup

Username for the 850R owner is '850R' (funny that) if you want to drop Rich a PM.

There was cameras at all strategic points ,so the footage must be being used somewhere.

Surely they weren't there just for the big screens on the day ?

Louise Goodman was there so I assume a TV programme was being made (Tiff Needell as well).

I'm not sure she's so much of a fan just to turn up to watch the racing. wink

Thanks ,that must confirm it .

I have checked all of this week of ITV4 ,must be too much footage to sort through to get it ready for this week.

I'll kick myself if I miss it...frown

I was there on Sunday taking part in the Capri 50th anniversary celebrations.

First time I've been to the show and I really enjoyed it. Plenty of racing to see and lots of interesting cars. Nosing around the pits looking at the cars close up was great too.

I did think that some car clubs were over represented and there were also too many moderns, but I suppose it's better than having big empty areas and of course the weather must have affected the turnout.

Even with large Porsche Parking zones there's still plenty of spare space to use up, there was pretty much nothing on the outer perimeter road or around the Wing paddock.

I'm not sure that the presence of 'moderns' was too much of an issue either, for every Jag X-type estate there were plenty of E-types to look at and I'm sure a large number of spectators are interested in seeing modern supercars. The Lotus and Aston clubs would certainly look very sparse if a cut-off of 1999, for example, was chosen.

Get them online!

I think the diversity of cars on the PH zone (both the display and parking) was fantastic.

The 850 is a case in point - great car and, I think iconic. My mate who is not into cars in the least - cycles to work, is into his mountain biking and only has a car because sometimes he has to use one - has a boggo 850. It's beautifully built and, in his words "the last car I ever buy". hehe Occasionally, when he's panicking about the cost of work needed, I remind him of that phrase and also that no one will ever build cars like those again.

A great event as usual.
Being able to access virtually everywhere - pits, paddock, etc (unlike Goodwood Revival).

Only criticism is the traffic marshals need briefing properly. One marshal says one thing, then 2 minutes later his colleague 10 feet away says something different.

Blimey. Only just seen this ben. You're very welcome and thanks for the 850r owners details.

Is there another pistonheads gathering at Silverstone this year? Would love to attend with pistonheads again.
