M Performance Parts coming to M240i xDrive

No M2 yet, but plenty to jazz up the current 2 Series flagship

The continued roll out of M Performance Parts for the BMW range should come as no surprise; after all, many people like to modify their BMWs, so why let the aftermarket take all the money? Especially when M Performance Parts can be supplied without any warranty issues.

The BMW M240i xDrive is the latest to get a new range of upgrades as the 374hp straight-six flagship that's due on sale soon. The M Performance Parts are broadly as you might expect: some look useful - see the new seats, wheels and brakes - and some rather less desirable. Like the key holder, door locks and fuel cap with the M triclour. But, y'know, if people want to buy them, BMW is going to make them. And don't forget the stripes...

If more modest than some recent efforts, there are still plenty of carbon add-ons to choose from in the 2 Series catalogue. Note the front slitter, side skirts and rear spoiler and diffuser. Whether these extras have actually improved the look of the 2 Series will be up for those in the comments to decide, but they certainly won't want for carbon choice - there's even M3-style mirrors.

With the M240i xDrive not yet on sale on the UK, we don't know how much the M Performance Parts will cost. But expect them to follow fairly soon after launch, and don't bank on BMW-approved tuning bits being cheap, either - not even the key pouch.

What an absolute load of tat!! Cannot believe how awful those stripes and carbon "upgrades" are.

Unfortunately, as the old saying goes, "You can never dress mutton up like lamb"

Totally abysmal! I don`t think there is a new BMW I actually like anymore.

I`m oot!

Really needs to be a darker colour so you can't see the details

I'm sure this car will look better in the metal, but in white and full of tat, it looks truly ghastly.

The front 3/4 angle looks particularly ungainly.

Maybe it proves that ze Germans do have a sense of humour.

On at the tat, nobody actually buys it anyway as a "whole" but they'll sell some of the individual bits.

I have to say that while not a fan of the add ons, the base vehicle does look rather lovely to me, really taught and without the horrible front of the 4-series, while losing the somewhat gawky styling of the last car which only the extra detailing of the M2 made OK.

I think the 2 may become the pick of the bunch from BMW for many people who would previously have got the 3/4 and if I hadn't decided not to get another NA engine, I rather think I may have gone this route.

(but I loath the instruments - utterly)

We went from great looking muscular yet understated cars like the E39 M5 to this.

I think the styling of these is a bit odd anyway, white with the parts fitted doesn’t really help it.

The BMW Performance parts have been around for years, the range has just grown over the years. It’s always been expensive (I have the carbon intake in my 130).

I was stuck behind one of these new 2 series in traffic the other week.

What a hideous, over fussy, grotesque pile of ste that car is.

Unfortunately every other manufacturer is basically the same too.

Shame the M division goodies don't include a whole new body that actually looks decent! Current crop of beemers actually make the Bangle era ones look attractive.

Has anyone driven one? Do they drive as bad as they look?

Do all the carbon bits make it faster on track?

I thought the petrol cap was a bit pointless because you hardly ever see it(unless you own an E92 M3/E60 M5 etc!), but I do quite like those door lock thingys though! getmecoat

Possibly the worst-looking car I have ever seen, and I used to sell Hyundais.

Also, the door lock thingies: whoever photographed that could have at least screwed it round so it faced the right way for the picture: BMW W-division, anyone?

It's actually rather impressive how they can make every new release look progressively worse.
