Lamborghini Urus spied at the Nurburgring
One of the prototypes is out testing, and the drivers aren't holding back!
This is our best look yet at the upcoming SUV, and there's certainly no doubting the commitment of the test drivers. Could Lamborghini be planning another wild Nurburgring lap, following in the tyre tracks of the Aventador SV and the Huracan Performante? With this kind of approach you wouldn't bet against it - look at it lean!
What else can we tell from these new pics? Certainly it would seem the concept's aggressiveness will make it through to production, with a very narrow glasshouse, a big and bluff front end (but with some familiar Lamborghini cues) and a rear that features four very prominent exhausts. Look closely and those slender rear lights have made it as well, with the resulting aesthetic not dissimilar to a GLE Coupe, albeit with even less rear glass to see out of. Who cares about what's behind anyway? They're behind you, that's what matters. Unsurprisingly perhaps there are elements of the Audi Q8 to the Lamborghini's design too, the two cars expected to share a fair amount.
The Urus concept was never pitched as an all-terrain 4x4, of course, though if further evidence was required then take a look at the really rather low ride height and massive wheels here. Still, if it helps that 'ring time...
Given this is the first time that the Urus has been seen on the Nordschleife, and how disguised it remains, the full reveal is probably still a little way off. Not seeing the final styling for a while may well sound like good news to some; for those eager to buy the Urus however, a debut and launch is still expected at some point next year.

And now this Audi Q7/ VW Toureg with angular bumpers. Tragic.

I for one look forward to seeing what they all come up with next!
I for one am very glad they are building it, Ive been looking forward to it since the original concepts. It will be amazing.
Mind you, I'm the PH exception to the rule these days - I couldn't give a flying fornicate about the weight of any car! At no point have I ever looked at any of my cars and thought, "I wonder what it weighs"...I just drive the things.
That being said, I do agree with the strange compulsion to put everything around The Ring - some things don't really belong there as that's not necessarily the target use of the car. I guess if VAG have paid for the track, they may as well use it.
