Stockport's top traffic cop has admitted that speed cameras cause accidents.
Commenting that he believes speed cameras should be hidden, Inspector John
Williams said “We have had a couple of accidents immediately before speed
cameras, where it appears that speeding motorists have braked severely and
caused accidents.”
He went on to day “That is a fact, and we have noticed the traffic is
slowing down dramatically before speed cameras and then picks up again once it
has passed them. We have to acknowledge that road safety campaigners do have a
point.”
