Hi all,

I've collated a load of info on spec's, upgrades, problems/issues etc for my own purpose & thought about posting it on here as a FAQ page..? I did try to do something similar last year but nothing came of it..

Its a bit basic so far, and obviously biased towards the T350 at the mo, but I can add Tamora stuff etc to it, and update it as we go with your help?

If you think its any good, perhaps Ted could also put a sticky thingy on it to keep it at the top of the forum....

Please let me know what you think...?

NOTE - The intention of this thread is to collate all the usefull information contained in this forum into one place for easy reference. Although believed correct, some information is only based on opinions and suggestions from the forum members and should therefore no be taken as "Official" or "TVR Approved". It is also the latest information at the time of writing, although some brands (eg. Oils/Fluids/Tyres) and specifications may differ slightly to the handbook dependant on age and year of manufacture of car.

KNOWN ISSUES / PROBLEMS


• Gaiter around gear stick has tendency to become unstuck.

• Condensation in all light clusters – especially front.

• Speed Sensor - often failed or gave spurious readings - replacement type introduced approx May 04 ‘

• Oil Pressure Sensor - often fails or gives incorrect warning errors.

• EFI warning on start-up - common problem - new chip introduced approx May 04

• Air Con Fault Code 26 - very common and not a problem - just an annoyance in having to cancel it!

• Seatbelts very temperamental and prone to sticking .

• Water leak from windscreen.

• Wind noise from around top of door seals – esp. drivers side.

• Stress fractures around the hinge mounts for the hatch which can lead to failure.

• Panel joins visible through paint on front a rear wings.

• Reports of the enging pinking under full throttle even when using Optimax

Great idea, but i think you need to ba carefull about stating things like oil specs, tyres etc..... My manual states that i should use Mobil oil at all times, ie/ running in ,pre and post 6,000 miles, makes no reference to Carlube?? Also car was and is fitted with TOYO tyres from new, they aren't a recommended alternative, they are on it OE spec!

I know it's nit picking, but should either keep it generic or be as accurate as possible.

Hi Hilti,

The Oil Specs were from the latest Owners manual - I believe I was carefull with my wording, but perhaps I should put a disclaimer at the front?

Also, the tyres are the ones fitted to all CURRENT models - I know TOYO's were oem, but they now fit Goodyear as standard... having said that some people prefer the Toyos, so thats why I put them down as an alternative...

I think a central place for common new/not so new owners question and suggested answers could be ideal. Maybe that way when the same questions keep getting asked, a common resource can be referred to. Knowledge is power and all that.

Great idea to develop this info. Wasn't having a pop, just wanted to make sure that someone didn't try and come back with any claims based on the info contained in the FAQ page, particularly with the oils and all the problems the S6 has experienced in the past.

Can either word the info so its generic and covers all specs or stick in a disclaimer as you say. Perhaps along the lines off; info and specification may differ due to age and year of manufacture of car?

A known issue to add that may just be specific to my car of course:

Charcoal petrol tank vent filter fills with petrol that then overflows out in front of passenger side rear wheel. The solution was simply to empty the filter canister out. A result most likely of parking on a right to left slope with a full fuel tank.

Something else I learned yesterday - you mentioned the rubber wedges to stop wind noise on the driver's side window. Apparently, that was introduced after launch to fix the issue. Subsequently, they stuck some velcro onto the fibreglass above the window to prevent it squeaking and keep the glass in place.

I've got the wedge and the velcro on mine now and it makes a big difference. Apparently, the later cars have a proper frame to fit into and I'm going to have that retrofitted to mine, but it's a big job apparently.

Anyone with a Saggy-ass care to confirm that you've got the a frame on yours?
