The Guidelines below should hopefully mean that the competition & the challenge continue to run smoothly.

The difference between the Photo Challenge and the Photography Competition is that the entries for the challenge must be taken within the coming month of the challenge being announced (normally the 1st day of the month) and may not be from your back catalogue. The competition can be any photo you've taken at any time. Post processing will be allowed in either competition or challenge unless the judge states otherwise.

Rules

1. The photos taken must be your own work
2. The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
3. The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for following month and judges it at the end of the month
4. Entries and discussion on a single thread, please.
5. All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
6. Winners should update the Competition Wiki (it's easy)
7. Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.

Monthly Photo Challenge

Below is a list of all previous monthly Photo Challenges. Here's the original thread which kicked off the challenge.

Finding these challenges has been a bigger challenge than the photo challenges. Some seem to be in the TVR section, others in Ultima? WTF!! If you find any missing links or info, please update this page.

Anyhow, here's the rules and previous challenges and winners.

Rules

1. The photos taken must be your own work
2. The shot MUST be taken this month, with the closing date being midnight on the last day of the Challenge month
3. The exif must be posted with your shot
4. The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month
5. The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for following month and judges it at the end of the month
6. The Challenge for next month should be generic, as not everyone has access to zoom, macro, specialist lenses. It should be shots that everyone is capable of achieving with the bare essentials.
7. There will be two threads that need starting: The Entries thread to commence same time as Discussion thread. In the Entries thread only one picture should be entered. Any others you wish to discuss should be posted in the Discussion thread.
8. All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
9. Photos entered should be no bigger than 750 pixels wide for a landscape photo and 600 pixels high for a portrait photo. Some people still have black and white tellies, and use these stupid 3G phone things for browsing the interweb Links to larger versions are permissible.
